Nivalis Nights Mods: Install City Life and Back Up Saves

Quick answer

City Life uses BepInEx 6 IL2CPP on Windows x64. Check its game-build requirements, back up both save locations, and open Daily Life with F7 after installation.

Check the version combination

For City Life 1.0.0, the author lists Windows x64, official Update #4 / Steam build 25828494, and BepInEx 6 IL2CPP. The development setup uses BepInEx build 788.

The dependency declaration points to older build 755, which the author did not separately validate. Follow the mod’s current author instructions for the matching loader rather than treating any BepInEx download as interchangeable.

Update #5 is available; City Life 1.0.0 targets Update #4. Check the supported game build before installing.

Back up before installation

Close the game. Make copies of both locations before trying the mod:

%USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Ion Lands/Nivalis Nights
BepInEx/config/NivalisCityLife/Saves

The second location is inside the game directory and exists once the mod has created its saves. Keep the backups from before the changes you want to be able to undo.

Install the loader and plugin

  1. In Steam, choose Manage → Browse local files for the game.
  2. Locate the folder containing Nivalis Nights.exe.
  3. Install the required BepInEx loader according to its instructions, and complete its first-start initialization.
  4. Close the game again.
  5. Merge the City Life archive’s BepInEx folder into the game directory.
  6. Keep a single copy of the plugin at BepInEx/plugins/NivalisCityLife/NivalisCityLife.dll.
  7. Start the game and press F7. Look for Daily Life.

The loader starts the plugin; repeatedly copying the DLL does not replace a missing loader.

Troubleshoot and roll back

Record the game, loader and mod versions and keep BepInEx/LogOutput.log when diagnosing a failure. Check animation, camera, NPC, interaction and inventory mods one at a time for conflicts.

To undo saved changes, restore the matching backups of both the game and City Life save folders. Deleting the DLL alone does not undo changes already saved. Keep configuration files if you want to preserve the settings.
